Albany Medical Center
EMS/Prehospital Fellowship
Welcome to Albany! The capital of New York State is an exciting place to practice Emergency Medicine and Emergency Medical Services, and Albany Medical Center is a fantastic place to do an EMS fellowship. Our ACGME-approved fellowship program provides training and education in all aspects of EMS, including academics, administration, medical oversight, research, teaching and clinical medicine.
Our Emergency Medicine physicians are engaged in a broad variety of public safety opportunities from urban and rural search-and-rescue to federal and municipal tactical support, from commercial and municipal third-service and fire-based EMS, to ground-to-flight. Our providers are actively engaged as field physicians- including a first-response program with law enforcement support.
Historically, our projects have led to changing the scope of EMS practice throughout the state and the nation. For instance, our work was key to advancing care with basic life support blood glucometry, naloxone and syringe epinephrine.
We have designed a fellowship program to train participants for both academic and operational EMS, but we believe our fellows should also pursue opportunities in their own specific areas of interest. Our fellowship graduates are prepared for careers as medical directors of local or regional EMS systems and as EMS faculty. There are additional opportunities which can lead to certification as either a firefighter or a law enforcement officer.
We look forward to meeting you!
